Fleeing motorist allegedly passes semi on right, spins out
Michael Dwayne Croud, 35, of Ponsford has been charged in Becker County District Court with felony fleeing a peace officer in a motor vehicle and misdemeanor controlled substance crime.
According to court records, on Dec. 14, a Becker County deputy, who knew Croud was wanted on a felony warrant, spotted him driving a Pontiac Grand Am on County Road 34. Croud allegedly sped away from the pursuing officer, but spun out and lost control of the car when he tried to pass a semi on the right shoulder. He allegedly fled on foot into an open field , running until he stumbled and fell and the deputy caught him. He was arrested and taken to the Becker County Jail, where a search allegedly turned up 25 Gabapentin pills in his jacket pocket for which he did not have a prescription.
Croud appeared in court Dec. 15 before District Judge Joe Evans, who set bail at $35,000 or bond at $75,000, with conditions, or bond at $75,000 without standard conditions of release.
