Two charged after surveillance photos put on Facebook

Two men are accused of shoplifting hundreds of dollars worth of merchandise from Midwest Workwear in Detroit Lakes while a clerk was busy helping another customer in a different part of the store.

Dennis Paul Murray Jr., 34, of Mahnomen has been charged in Becker County District Court with felony theft and Paul George Person Jr., 33, of White Earth has been charged with gross misdemeanor theft.

On Nov. 28, Murray allegedly stole $885 worth of merchandise and Person allegedly stole $669 worth of merchandise from the store. They were identified by surveillance video after their photos were posted on Facebook in an effort by police to identify them.

On Dec. 29, District Judge Gretchen Thilmony issued a summons to each man to appear in court Jan. 29.
