Laker Jazz team fifth at conference Dance

The Laker Jazz dance team placed fifth at the Mid-State Conference competition at Crosby-Ironton high school Thursday night.

Defending state Class A Jazz champions, the Aitkin All Starz, placed first garnering three rank points. Pequot Lakes was the runner-up with eight, followed by Crosby-Ironton 10, Pierz 10 and the Lakers with 14.5.

The Detroit Lakes junior varsity team finished in fourth-place in a field of seven teams.

The Lakers scored 13 rank points to finish behind Crosby-Ironton (3), Pequot Lakes (7), and Aitkin Black (8). Pierz finished in fifth (15), followed by Aitkin Red (17) and the Crosby-Ironton B squad (20).

Detroit Lakes competes Saturday, Jan. 13 in Hawley at 11 a.m.

The Lakers host a dance show at home Monday, January 15 at 7 p.m. featuring Center Stage, Just for Kix and and DLHS boys dancers.

The final conference meet is also at home Thursday, Jan. 18 at 6 p.m.
