Wednesday, May 2 Community Schools Engagement Meeting: A community engagement meeting regarding proposed facilities improvements at Detroit Lakes Public Schools is scheduled to take place at 6:30 p.m. in the media center at Rossman Elementary School (1221 Rossman Ave., Detroit Lakes). As with prior community meetings Brian Berg from Zerr-Berg Architects will present the latest information regarding the referendum process and provide opportunities for community input and questions.
Wednesday, April 25 Township Officers Meeting: The Becker County Association of Township Officers will meet at 7 p.m. in the third floor jury assembly room at the Becker County Courthouse. Registration starts at 6:30 p.m. Thursday, April 26
Saturday, April 28 Bike Rodeo: Detroit Lakes' 8th Annual Bike Rodeo will be held at Kent Freeman Sports Arena, 1300 Rossman Ave., from 9:30 a.m. to noon. This event is free and open to all ages, targeting children in grades K-8 with parental participation encouraged. Complete the bike rodeo to enter a drawing for the chance to win a new bike! Learn safety skills while having fun riding in a bike rodeo course. Bike helmets will also be given out to participants.
Tuesday, April 17 • At 9:46 a.m., a vehicle reportedly knocked over a street sign on Holmes Street in Detroit Lakes. The sign was undamaged and reinstalled. • At 10:29 a.m., a minor motor vehicle accident was reported on Summit Avenue in Detroit Lakes. There were no injuries. • At 3:06 p.m., a vehicle reportedly backed into another vehicle on Lake Avenue in Detroit Lakes. There were no injuries.

Sunday, April 15 Color Guard Breakfast: The Lake Region Veterans Color Guard will be hosting a breakfast fundraiser from 8 a.m. to noon at the American Legion Club. Suggested donation is $7 for a meal including scrambled eggs; pancakes or French toast; and sausage or bacon, plus beverage. Square Dance for Heart: The annual Square Dance for Heart, benefiting the American Heart Association, will take place from 2 to 5 p.m. inside the Waubun Community Center. All dancers, callers and cuers welcome.
Wednesday, April 11 Mark Kroos Concert: St. Peter's Lutheran Church of Cormorant will host a free concert by Christian musician Mark Kroos (a past winner of Guitar Player Magazine's International Guitar Superstar Competition in Nashville) starting at 6:30 p.m. A free will offering will be taken. Tuesday, April 3 • At 6:56 a.m., a vehicle went up onto the boulevard on Minnesota Avenue in Detroit Lakes, striking a tree. • At 11:44 a.m., an unoccupied vehicle was struck at the intersection of Frazee Street and Lake Avenue in Detroit Lakes. Wednesday, April 4 • At 2:37 p.m., a fender bender was reported at the Detroit Lakes Community and Cultural Center.
Tuesday, March 27 • At 10:31 a.m., there was a report of threats made over the removal of property at a residence on 8th Street in Detroit Lakes. • At 10:59 a.m., a motor vehicle accident was reported on Washington Avenue near the Veteran's Memorial in Detroit Lakes. There were no injuries. Thursday, March 29 • At 8:33 a.m., the theft of a portable air conditioner was reported at a residence on Meadows Circle in Audubon. The caller believed the air conditioner was taken by a neighbor.
